Show Me Some Love!

Well, this is all new to me, but I’m going to give it a go.  It’s the nominating season for the 2008 Black Weblog Awards.

I’d love to be nominated for something!

  1. I hope you will take the time to do some research into tourette’s syndrome. There is much more behind it than someone just shouting out inappropriate words. I would also suggest to you that take a look at the entire documentary instead of just one clip. The girl in question is a teenager and I am certain that by that age, most everyone knows many words which are less than desirable and others that are simply offensive. The other thing I wondered is why you referred to yourself as “the stupid black girl” and why of all the finger signs or hand gestures you could have known that you chose to give a gang sign and then you seemed to get annoyed when others gave similar signs. I guess for me, if I find something offensive that others might say to me, I shouldn’t being saying it myself. There is a clip I have seen with a white teacher who said the N word to a student. In the video, he gave a ridiculous argument in the difference between the words nigger and niggah. I don’t see any difference between the words. It’s the same to me as when someone says freaking instead of fucking. A word is nothing. It’s the thought, meaning behind the word that means something very much when Shakespeare wrote a rose by any other name would smell as sweet. I know I am probably all over the place here but it’s just what was running across my mind. I do thank you for making me take the time to think about words, their meanings, and how they can hurt someone. Sometimes I think I take things like that for granted. Take care.
