amazing. I am 36 years old and have no one. Can’t find anyone and the way things look. I will most likely never find a woman. Too bad everything is about money and the material. The measure of a man is defined by how ‘successful’ he is. And that success is measured by money. Too bad the value of a person’s character isn’t factored into anything. I had a dream of marriage and a family. But there is no one to marry. But that is how it is. I just get judged all of the time. Before a woman even knows my name she has already decided who and what I am. It’s pretty depressing dealing withthat all of the time. But that is how it goes as well. I have known women who considered men who physically beat them over me. That’s the world we live in now.

It is boring, another distraction to keep us fro improving ourselves. Black men and white women love to demonise black women to make up for their own shortcomings – white women use black men to perpetuate the myth that they are superior, then why do you tan your pasty skin?? Black men in their ignorance seem to think white makes them acceptable and like their white girlfriends probably dont like themselves much, so to feel good about themselves they complain about black women who have done nothing to them, get over yourselves, both parties tend to be ugly low achievers anyway!

I have met good black men and good whit men. There is no difference, good men are just that. The sex involved was just as simple. I had many lovers,. the best were black, but that’s only me.

and another thing. They are(like waht many others have said) stuck on this cinderella fairy tale of how a man should be and NEVER come back the reality. There just stuck fooooreveeeer, and that’s why things are so screwed up

I have to say that this is non sense. I mean really…..as many black men who goes to church, to out of jail, and trying to make a living, and they say that there are no good black men….Word. There was a woman who said that same crap and I told her that there are good BLACK men, but they are not what they want them to be and I said the demands they make now….I guess I’ma gonna single forever. So I guess it doesn’t matter anymore if a black man can treat them like women and love them, so I guess it’s all about the money, what car he drives, and the power huh? These women are hopeless, and truth be told they don’t have no sense of taste anyway.

This is one of the best blog posts I’ve ever read. As a young black male, ironically, I see my own prospects dwindling before my eyes. Whether it’s that the women around me are morally and sexually loose (a deal-breaker for me), are not as psychologically developed as I, or we just plain old don’t see eye to eye, I feel the complete opposite of these women. Clearly, I’m not as old as they are, but I can already see the time frame with which I can date closing, as grad school and an impending career loom on the horizon. To those women and to all black women who think there are no ‘good’ black men, I’d say to look harder and stop judging your own prospects based on a damn Tyler Perry play (ironic that this was filmed in Atlanta). There are good black men. We just don’t get the press that the convicts and athletes do…

Thank you for injecting a little logic into this conversation. This perceived Black Men Shortage “Epidemic” is flawed from left to right, top to bottom and inside out. The conversation is often one sided and rarely EVER involves Black married women. I am heated over this thinly veiled attack on Black men.

Funny, the other post is from a Molly too. Anyways, actually couldn’t agree with you more. I am a mix kid, a blaminican, so my perspective may be a little different, but you really echoed what most of my black female friends said when we emailed this clip around to our ivy league educated crew. We are not up in arms to your comments, we wish the whole dialog would change. And as a side note: Please tell me who is buying all those Steve Harvey books – they really need to stop … ABC may actually have him come back to school us on more relationship woes. He is not the solution.

Now. Now. In the end, relationships are between two people. It makes no sense for anybody to say ‘all … men’ or ‘all … women’ and maybe if we are lucky some day they will stop. As hard as it may be, you must not take it personally. You be you. Do what you do and you’ll find somebody or they will find you. And in the meantime, go on some adventures and see more of life.

And I’m happy to see you are back to blogging. I enjoy the challenge of trying to follow your thoughts
