The streets over there had been salted way before our so called snow storm was suppose to hit.

I go home to harlem that night, and the streets still had not been salted. People were slipping and falling, and the roads were bad. Im like can we get a little salt please dang! What did you run out when you finished the upper eastside? Im confused.

Well, I wasn’t around for that which was January 1979–and apparently we haven’t had such a rapid fire storms since 1979–and I left Chicago today in the midst of today’s snowstorm and arrived in Atlanta around 4am eastern time, with an estimated ground temperature of 55 degrees.

Lo and behold, those streets were crappy too.

I stand by what I wrote. I can’t remember, post 1979, when Chicago streets have looked this bad post-snows.

We’re so beatdown, as a city, that if the streets are clear, and the garbage is taken up, and the flowers look good in those dividers… ‘the city is working’. We don’t ask a lot from our crooked leadership (unfortunately). But, what we do ask, we want it done.

Honestly, I think HIZZONER just got up and said that to make it sound better because everywhere I drove, not ONE side street except by my house showed evidence of being treated with salt or had been plowed.

Oh I lied, the streets in Jackson Park Highlands—go figure.

I grew up in Hyde Park though. I miss home. Where magical elves would carry the snow away before I woke up in the morning. Sigh.

This year has been ridiculous. I work downtown and even some streets here will catch you slipping. But somebody must have tapped Daley on the shoulder and explained how shit is going down, cuz this morning the trucks were out. Even in Bronzeville….
